Outdoor Education

At St. Louis Living Arts we are committed to providing our students with learning opportunities ‘beyond the classroom' that promote physical fitness, a curiosity about our natural environment, survival skills, social engagement and self-esteem. Living in Northwestern Ontario, we understand the importance our geography plays on childhood development and our community as a whole. We encourage students to take advantage of this incredible area we call home.

Our living arts programming sees many classes heading outside to learn about nature, stewardship of the environment, and caring for all of God's creatures be they big or small. We are happy to offer a Beekeeping program as well as a school garden and a gardening partnership with Homerun Gardens in Keewatin. Our outdoor learning environment further offers our teachers an excellent opportunity to take students outside and use the space as a living classroom. Features such as a stream, green area, stage, forest and shaded area, give students a fun learning environment outside.

In June, Grade 6 and 7 students participate in a three-day retreat. Students are able to experience camping with their friends and fellow students. They get to participate in swimming, arts, music, archery, campfires, hiking, rock climbing, zip lining, sports, games, group activities and so much more.
